Expert Tips for Preserving Your Stunning Stone Surfaces

Daily Cleaning:

  • Use a soft cloth, microfiber cloths or sponge with warm water and a mild dish soap.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach, ammonia, or acidic cleaners (e.g., vinegar or lemon juice), which can dull the finish.
  • Wipe spills immediately, especially acidic substances like wine, citrus, or coffee.

Protecting the Surface and Etch Prevention:

  • Always use cutting boards—granite is tough, but knives can scratch the sealant and dull your blades.
  • Use trivets or hot pads under hot pots and pans to avoid thermal shock or discoloration.
  • Avoid standing or sitting on countertops to prevent cracks or stress fractures.
  • No harsh chemicals – stay away from bleach, oven cleaners, paint removers or anything with a high pH.
  • No direct heat – this applies to quartz and quartzite countertops. Granite countertops can withstand heat, but placing a very hot pan directly on a cold granite surface can cause cracking in rare cases. There is also sealant on our granite countertops and this could discolor or degrade over time with repeated exposure to heat.
